“To finish a work is not to complete it.” — Agnes Marti
Artist Statement
My work is guided by listening rather than repetition. I’m not interested in producing the same image again and again; each painting asks for its own language. Color, movement, and surface shift in response to what’s present in the studio and in my life.
Through layered abstraction, I explore stillness, depth, and the moment when a painting asks to be left alone. What connects my work is not a fixed palette or formula, but an ongoing inquiry—how light emerges through complexity, and what remains when the noise falls away.
Each piece unfolds slowly, built through intuition, pause, and restraint. The work is complete not when it feels finished, but when it feels quiet.
Color plays a pivotal role in my work. It is the language through which I communicate the subtleties of emotion and the nuances of the human experience. Bold, vibrant hues often dominate my canvases, symbolizing the intensity and passion that drive my creativity. Conversely, softer, muted tones represent introspection and tranquility. The juxtaposition of these colors creates a dynamic tension that captures the viewer's attention and invites them to explore the deeper layers of meaning within each piece.Form and StructureIn my abstract compositions, form and structure are equally important. I am intrigued by the idea of balance and harmony within chaos. My work often features geometric shapes and organic forms intertwined in a delicate dance, representing the duality of order and disorder in life. Through the careful arrangement of these elements, I strive to create a sense of movement and fluidity that reflects the ever-changing nature of existence.
Texture is another crucial element in my art. By incorporating a variety of materials and techniques, I aim to add depth and dimension to my work. The tactile quality of my pieces invites viewers to engage with them on a sensory level, encouraging them to not only see but also feel the emotions conveyed. The use of layering, impasto, and mixed media allows me to build complex surfaces that mirror the complexity of the human experience.
My creative process is both intuitive and deliberate. It begins with a spark of inspiration, the writings of gratitude, which I then nurture and develop through sketches, experimentation, and reflection. I embrace the unpredictability of the creative journey, allowing myself the freedom to explore new ideas and techniques. This openness to experimentation often leads to unexpected discoveries and breakthroughs, which in turn enrich my work.Embracing the UnknownAs an abstract artist, I am constantly pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone and embracing the unknown. This willingness to take risks and venture into uncharted territory is what drives my artistic growth and evolution. Each piece I create is a testament to my commitment to exploring the infinite possibilities of abstraction and uncovering new ways to express the ineffable.
I believe that art is a collaborative experience between the artist and the viewer. While my work is deeply personal, it is also open to interpretation. I invite viewers to bring their own perspectives and emotions to the pieces, allowing them to find their own meaning and connection. In this way, my art becomes a mirror, reflecting the diverse and multifaceted nature of the human experience.
As I continue to evolve as an artist, I am excited to see where my journey will take me. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of abstract art and exploring new ways to express the complexities of the human experience. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to look beyond the surface and embrace the beauty of the unseen and the unknown. In conclusion, my art is a celebration of the limitless possibilities of abstraction. It is an invitation to explore the depths of our emotions, to embrace the uncertainty of life, and to find beauty in the unexpected. As an emerging abstract artist, I am dedicated to creating work that resonates with viewers on a profound level and encourages them to see the world through a different lens.
